Sabor y Sonrisas 4-Week Class Series: Adaptive Latin Dance & Somatic Joy
Illuminate your winter with Rhythm, Liberatory movement and inclusive connection
Starts Wednesday, February 4, 2026 · 6:00–7:15pm ET
4-week series on Wednesdays · Live on Zoom + Access to Recordings
All levels welcome
Come as you are — even if (and especially if!) you “don’t feel like it”
Sabor y Sonrisas ("Flavor and Smiles") blends the fun and camaraderie of communal Latin dance with adaptive movement patterns that welcome every body — all grounded in somatic wisdom for greater ease in your movement and nervous-system.
More than a dance class, this 4-week series offers gentle skill-building in Latin rhythms while creating space for play, connection, and whole-human care.
If you want more movement in your life that’s fun, liberatory, and true to your needs, this class is for you. Whatever you're carrying is welcome here — even if your nervous system feels spiky or you just can't people right now. You're not alone, and you belong in any form.
Cameras and microphones are always optional, because self-care is community care. Our class motto: “Move how you move, wiggle how you wiggle — or simply Be.”
“These classes are so grounding and joyful, and Lori creates amazing community spaces! I highly recommend signing up for this series.”
Who this is for
This series welcomes folks craving adaptive movement, connection, and body joy. Choose your own intensity in a consent-forward space — a very light taste of the Rose Model’s somatic process work amid Latin rhythms and accessible dance patterns.
This is for you if:
You want more joyful, embodied movement in your days.
You crave community that’s low-pressure and welcoming — no need to be extroverted or "on."
You appreciate adaptive options that meet your energy (grief, pain, hormones, or nervous-system wobbles included).
You enjoy Latin music, caring spaces, and moments of laughter.
You want consent-forward support to move, rest, or flow however you need.
This might not be the right fit if:
You’re looking for intense choreography or performance training.
You want a bootcamp workout or drill-style instruction.
You’re seeking deep trauma-processing or individualized 1:1 guidance.**
→ (**Note! Embodied trauma recovery and integration is core to my work — I’d love to support you in this through coaching or our Somatic Movement Group [waitlist here]. This series is a much lighter introduction to the work I do. Please reach out [here] if you’d like to talk about 1:1 or somatic movement work together.)
rooted in justice and joy
We honor the Afro‑Latin lineages of this music and dance by crediting artists, offering historical context for rhythms, and honoring creators’ stories and legacies. Our approach is anti-oppressive and liberatory — joyfully embracing movement as both resistance and care, rekindling our roots and innate humanity.
Classes also include short, optional moments for reflection and community exchange in our private, playful online space. Together we build warmth, rhythm, and a sense of belonging that lasts beyond the class hour.
What to expect
Each week is gently scaffolded for accessibility, expanding upon your learning, and deepening embodied joy. Classes begin with grounding and body-mind tending, weave in somatic and anatomy-informed cues, and teach clear, accessible dance patterns with room for your own expression.
Arrival & Grounding: Arrive as you are; we begin with breath, easeful awareness, and nervous-system settling.
Body Warm-Up: Adaptive mobility and rhythmic play to connect body and beat.
Dance Flow: Learn foundational steps from Latin rhythms (salsa, merengue, bachata, cha-cha, reggaeton, and more) with clear cues and adaptive choice points.
Expression & Free Movement: Explore your own flavor and flow with fullest permission to break the rules (not that we had any!) and express freely.
Cool-Down & Remembering: Re-grounding into stillness and ease, this is time to integrate what you learned about yourself and want to take with you each session.
Community Connection: Optional time to share smiles, reflections, or song favorites before we close.
You’ll leave each class more connected, more alive, and more yourself — whatever that looks like that day.
“I’ve always been uncomfortable doing anything physical — left over bad memories from PE classes. Lori made things so welcoming and affirming and fun. She was the embodiment of grace and inclusion. Thank you.”
about your instructor
Hi! I’m Lori (she/her), a sexuality educator, somatic movement guide, trauma‑conscious coach, and founder of the Rose Model for Healthy Relationships.
I’m dedicated to supporting teens and adults through life transitions, individual and collective trauma, and personal evolution — as they rebuild agency, reclaim safety and pleasure, and take meaningful action toward what makes them come alive.
We use music and movement as medicine — a rhythmic doorway back to your body, your roots, and your resilient joy. With 20+ years teaching dance and movement as a metaphor for healthy expression and connection, I weave somatic ease into accessible patterns to support your sense of strength, connection, and comfort in your own skin.
This work is rooted in disability justice and accessible embodiment, and I teach Afro‑Latin–rooted practices with humility, crediting artists and centering anti‑oppressive practice.
