  • Repatterning your nervous system with more fluidity to move through survival states, expand your body-mind's sense of safety, and return to a felt sense of connection with life. This helps release the grip of subconsciously stored trauma and allows you to respond to stress and act toward what matters to you with greater adaptability and responsiveness.

  • Releasing stuck emotions, patterns, and energetic blocks that are ready to move through. In doing so, you’ll access more intuition, personal power, and alignment to fuel your meaning-filled progress and liberation.

  • Integrating all the parts of who you are. By using somatic movement to befriend your parts from various life stages in addition to heart, mind, body, and spirit, you'll reconnect to your wholeness and inner compass, reclaiming the self-acceptance and trust to weather life's challenges while honoring what's most essential for your care, sustenance, and fulfillment.

  • Taking sustainably-paced steps to re-envision your dreams and progress on your most meaningful goals. You'll develop personalized practices to anchor you and provide a sense of grounding and solidarity as you navigate change. And with our scaffolded curriculum and built-in community support, we’ll co-build capacity and momentum to advance your most meaningful aspirations.

This 8-week journey blends nervous system science with music, movement, soulful exploration, and sustenance-building tools

Through the power of somatic movement, adaptive guidance, joyful infusion of rhythms from around the globe, and community support, you’ll hone skills to:

  • Integrate more parts of your being

  • Collaborate with your inner compass

  • Mobilize for brave action while calling on your self-protection

  • And access a wellspring of resources to fuel your evolution.

This is not surface-level self-care, but a deep, community-rooted practice that opens you to the resourcing of your whole self and the world around you.

We need who you are and what you have to share.

What’s included in the BREATHE somatic movement 8-week journey

We support your unfolding and reinforce your learning through these Pillars:

  • Once per week we’ll gather online for movement centered in adaptability, ease, play, and space for your body and nervous system to restore its sense of connection, power, and choice.

BREATHE™, a bottom-up healing approach, is an acronym representing an arc of seven practices combining music and movement to stimulate the body’s neural circuits and allow you to metabolize stress in a personalized, trauma-informed manner.

    • Designed to facilitate a sense of safety, support, and connection, the structure begins with slow music and movement invitations and prioritizes your sensory needs as tempo or potential for intensity increases.

    • You'll receive guidance to check in with yourself and adapt movement for your mobility, sensations, and needs throughout each practice — The movement is adaptive and as gentle (or not) as you want it to be, and there’s no way to do it wrong!

    • BREATHE™ is typically done standing and can adapt for a seated or laying position as well.

Our motto is "Move how you move, wiggle how you wiggle, or simply BE" --- the focus is on allowing you to express freely, reclaim more parts of yourself, and be held in a gentle space of dignity, safety, and belonging. You're never required to be on camera or share verbally if that doesn't feel comfortable.

Throughout these sessions, you'll learn to complete the stress cycle in a matter of minutes, while moving your body in fun, supportive ways that nourish your unique needs.

  • At the program halfway point and to close out our 8-week journey, we'll share intentional space for expanded self-expression and to celebrate your progress. These dance parties are a crucial part of the BREATHE experience, providing you with dedicated time and support to freely explore movement, embodied release, and authentic self-expression.

Each dance party begins with a micro-lesson and invitation to incorporate a somatic movement practice as you move, but the whole purpose is that THERE ARE NO RULES. This is a time for you to release, be expressed, and do whatever most nourishes YOU.

Our dance party playlist themes honor the phase of the journey we're in, helping you integrate the insights and breakthroughs from the preceding weeks. You'll have an opportunity for a brief check-in at the end, but are never obligated to share. We will celebrate you and your journey every step of the way energetically, and hold space for your restoration and unfolding in whatever form takes the best care of you.

Some have described our introvert-friendly dance parties "like recess without the social anxiety. :)" -- Come as you are, enjoy an eclectic & intentional playlist, and express freely in connection with others, without necessarily having to say a word!

  • Strategically placed near the program's halfway point and before our closing session, our co-working sessions provide dedicated time to help you integrate and take meaningful action on the insights and breakthroughs from our somatic work.

    Each co-working session includes:

    • A somatic practice to move stress or gunk away so we can be present in the space.

    • An opportunity to name your goals for accountability.

    • Three co-working intervals Pomodoro-style (~30 min. each) with a break in between.

    • Closing music for free dancing or added time to wrap up your tasks.

    • Optional space to celebrate each person's progress.

Throughout these co-working sessions we'll be right there with you, providing hands-on support and guidance to ensure you turn your program insights into courageous, tangible action toward what matters to you.

  • Each week you’ll receive self-discovery, nervous system regulation, and other creative practices that support your movement and personal care journey. Many of our practices are designed to fit into busy days, and you're welcome to engage according to your own needs and preferences.

The self-paced course platform and personal care practice toolkit includes:

    • Video and audio tutorials to help you adapt somatic and nervous system support tools for your unique needs

    • Journaling prompts

    • A digital workbook to track and retain what you learn.

    • Curated, themed playlists for all movement practices to support you moving forward

    • An Inner Mentor guided visualization to help you tap into your innate wisdom

As you progress and grow your self-knowledge week by week, you’ll build your personalized toolkit of care practices and experiment with what we call “touchstones” — micro moments and tools to presence you back in your body and space within minutes or even seconds — as well as more immersive experiences you can use whenever they’re most supportive for you.

By the end of the program, you’ll walk away with a suite of somatic tools to help you move through intense times or stuckness, playlists from every session, and curated personal care practices to serve your well-being and bring more ease and possibility to your life going forward.

  • Once you register, you'll receive a link to join our private Facebook group - a supportive community where you can connect with fellow BREATHE participants to share your journey, receive encouragement and guidance, and access an archive of program resources and celebrations.

  • In addition to the core BREATHE™ group program, you have the opportunity to enhance your journey by choosing to add two personalized sessions with Lori at over 40% off the regular 1-to-1 session rate.

These 75-minute private coaching sessions provide a deeper, more tailored experience, allowing you to:

    • Receive specialized guidance and support for your unique somatic needs and movement goals

    • Explore topics beyond the BREATHE™ curriculum, such as healthy relationships, sexual wellness, and effective communication

    • Receive a personalized playlist for each session according to your music preferences and focus areas, helping you integrate the practices into your daily life

    • Collaborate directly with Lori along your journey and gain the benefits of her expertise in areas like trauma recovery, chronic pain management, and neurodivergent support

The private coaching add-on is designed to complement the group program, giving you access to more individualized attention, resources, and growth opportunities at a reduced cost.

As a BREATHE group immersion participant, you can add these sessions any time before the close of our 8-week program at over 40% off the regular coaching rate for $95 each (the regular rate is $165).

There's no one-size-fits-all approach here

Folks arrive at the BREATHE™ Somatic Movement Group Program through their own unique reasons, experiences, and nervous system needs. If you're curious if the BREATHE™ group experience could be a helpful part of your journey right now, see if any of these feel like they speak to your current needs.

You might be someone who:

  • Senses energetic blocks or patterns holding you back, and wants to release what’s not helping and access more of your power and joy.

  • Craves more adaptive movement that nurtures your unique body and nervous system needs.

  • Is in therapy or pursuing other healing work, and senses that a “bottom-up,” body-based approach to address what’s stored on a cellular level and develop embodied ways to befriend your limbic brain would provide the aligned support and momentum your process needs.

  • Has creative passions and aspirations that need momentum, support, and embodied integration to flourish.

  • Feels on the verge of a breakthrough, and yearns to unclench from tension or overwhelm and reclaim a sense of freedom, pleasure, and self-integration to fuel your accomplishments and meaningful connections as you move forward.

  • Navigates neurodivergence, disabilities, or chronic pain or illness, and seeks flexibility, accommodations, and a trauma-informed, restorative space to get your needs met.

  • Is an empath or changemaker who cares deeply about things, and would benefit not only from a community reminding you that every step counts, but from welcoming FUN in your days to help you keep going.

  • Values truly inclusive spaces that honor the safety, dignity, and belonging of all people, genders, mobility types, and bodies.

  • Is curious to explore an embodied sense of safety in connection with others, so you can grow and deepen nurturing relationships.

  • Appreciates a blend of structure and freedom, where you can direct your movement and expression as the authority on what feels safe and true to you.

  • Thrives in non-performative space where your presence in any mood, state, or “didn’t feel like It today” is wholly honored as an integral part of our community.

you're invited to be, move and explore as fully, freely you.

Throughout your movement journey, you’ll be guided with the freedom to add as much gentleness or intensity as you need and adapt to what best serves YOU in each moment.
There is never a wrong way to move!

Our practices use gender-neutral language and intentionally open space for all bodies to move according to their own mobility needs. As we honor varied sensory and nervous system needs during live sessions, there are also no obligations to share, use the mic, or be on camera.

All you need to bring is yourself — in any state of being.
You are welcome and needed here.

what makes this program different

What sets the BREATHE program apart is the way we've woven together:

  • The rigor of brain-body science and trauma-informed principles

  • A prioritization of play and fostering your creative spirit

  • A tangible path forward to identify and act on the current aspirations of your heart and soul

  • An intimate, small-group, radically nonjudgmental setting with a whole person and humanity-centered approach — where you will be seen and heard (only if you want to be!), affirmed, supported, and celebrated throughout your process.

at the core of this unique approach are four transformative pillars:

Nervous system support, specifically a focus on fostering fluidity and harmony in the nervous system and stimulating the ventral vagus circuit to facilitate return to safety and connection.

Re-Integration, the process of tending and befriending all parts of self to restore a sense of wholeness and internal resourcing.

Inner Compass/Internal Locus of Control, using the modalities of movement, music, and guidance built into this program to facilitate the neuroplasticity needed to access and grow one's sense of true north and personal power.

Authentic Expression with Safety and Connection — practicing free expression in the safety and privacy of our movement spaces and the setting of community care, with support as you take steps toward what matters most to you.

Finally, at the heart of the BREATHE program is the understanding that true transformation happens through movement — NOT in a prescriptive way, and not just physical, but a movement of the whole self to connect with what you care about most.

what if you could combine your movement needs with body liberation, collective healing, and tangible progress toward what you care about most?

Imagine a movement practice that meets you exactly where you are — restoring fluidity to your nervous system, reconnecting you to your wholeness, and fueling your capacity for brave action. That's the BREATHE journey.

Through trauma-conscious, neurodivergent-affirming guidance, BREATHE is a movement journey in the truest sense. You won’t only gain collaboration with your inner compass, self-trust to navigate life’s challenges, and a wellspring of sustenance to propel your most meaningful dreams forward —

You will MOVE from where you are now to a new space.

A space where you and your nervous system are closer, more attuned friends.

A space where your capacity for self-honesty and expression can deepen intimacy and connection in your life.

A space where you’re SEEING and feeling results from the courageous steps you’re taking.

A space where the hopes and aspirations you’ve accessed in your heart align with the shaping of your days.

A space where you’ve cultivated safety to be unedited, and freely you.

This is not surface-level self-care, but a community-rooted experience that connects you with the full resourcing of your being and the life around you.

If this 8-week somatic adventure sounds like it could benefit you and your nervous system, we'd be honored to have you join us. We believe BREATHE could be a powerful part of your journey.

The authentic expression you have to share with the world around you is needed.

about the instructor — Blending Science, Soul, and an ethos of care

Photo credit: Of Breath & Bone

Hi! I'm Lori (she/her), a somatic movement practitioner, sexuality & relationships educator, and violence prevention advocate. As a complex trauma survivor, I created the BREATHE™ practice and group program with acute mindfulness of tender and frazzled nervous systems, navigating disabilities, pain, and injuries, and the needs of neurodivergent & highly sensitive people.

After 20+ years of teaching movement and dance as a metaphor for healthy expression and connection, I wanted a practice that could tend to overloaded nervous systems, get people out of their heads and any semblance of doing it “right,” support survivors, and integrate the body/mind/heart/spirit — without such barriers as centering esoteric, extrovert-mandated, or able-bodied practices in its guidance.

With a lens of accessibility and disability justice linked with fierce resolve to never tell anyone how they should look, move, or feel in their uniquely beautiful body, I combined movement with brain and nervous system studies and experience working with pain management, trauma-informed care, and the body-mind as an ecosystem, and BREATHE™ was born.

Grounded in principles like polyvagal theory, parts work, and generative somatics, BREATHE™ weaves together intentional music, movement, and creative practices to uncomplicate embodiment and reclaim movement’s original role in our lives — exploration, linking with your inner compass and power, nervous system processing, a sense of connection, and PLAY! I’ve been honored to witness clients experience increased clarity, self-trust, and the ability to take meaningful action after engaging in this practice.

With radical non-judgment, ease, and fun, the BREATHE™ group program provides a gentle space to thaw, connect with the life force inside, and experience the profound sense of possibility that arises when you're affirmed and surrounded by community care. You’ll walk away with tangible restorative practices, more accessible movement in your life, powerful discoveries about yourself, and so much more.

I'm deeply committed to offering a truly inclusive, trauma-informed environment where all are welcome to tap into their inner superpowers, embrace all parts of themselves, and share more of their authentic self wherever safety is exchanged — without the burden of having to "do it right." I'm honored to guide you on this BREATHE™ journey and witness your unfolding.

a message from breathe’s founder about the purpose behind this program

frequently asked questions

  • This BREATHE™ group program is designed for anyone who's interested in combining their movement needs with deeper self-discovery or recovery and healing progress, and has at least some openness to "no way to do it wrong" -- meaning there's no way to be "good" at it, either! -- and the use of music and developing pathways to free expression.

The program and all of its practices are adaptive, and can support someone at any stage of a self-discovery, healing, or emergent journey.

People in healing professions are also welcome in the BREATHE™ group program and can benefit from deepening knowledge in somatics and creative nervous system support practices, as well as evolution in their personal journeys.

Please note this program does not license anyone to duplicate BREATHE™ in their own professional practice. This program will be a prerequisite for that path, which we aim to offer beginning in 2025.

  • No movement experience or type of ability is required. This program is rooted in accessibility for all bodies and abilities. Students of BREATHE have completed sessions in physical positions ranging from bouncing around the room to laying down in bed or on the grass outside.

  • Our live sessions are designed to accommodate unique nervous system needs, shifting moods and circumstances, and the spectrum of being a one-in-300-trillion, whole human, as we all are.

There's never an expectation to be any kind of way. Using your camera and mic is always optional, and we abide by disability justice principles and the tenants of safety, dignity, and belonging.

Our session structure is generally as follows:
    Begin with a brief check-in
    Share the learning content
Do the group practice, whether it's BREATHE™ somatic movement, a dance party, or a co-working session
Self-reflection and space to integrate your learning and takeaways
    Questions and discussion
Optional check-out for each person, sharing something they want to remember from the session

For recorded content, Lori will pin herself so that participants are not part of the video.

  • The program time commitment is 2-3 hours per week, with an additional co-working session at the halfway point and before our closing session. Keep in mind that this time includes physical activity, focused personal care and self-processing time, and connection within a supportive community, built into your schedule for our 8-week program duration.

A change we've made to this year's program is increasing the session times to two hours -- This allows important time for self-reflection and integration of learning after our somatic practices. It also reduces or eliminates a sense of "homework" between sessions -- because we found out hardly anyone was fitting that into their week! Instead, we'll use the pdf workbook during sessions to track your progress and integrate learning, and cover the micro-practice you're invited to experiment with before we meet next.

All learning content and somatic movement guidance will be recorded and shared in the course platform, and you are welcome to leave a session whenever needed.

  • Our private Facebook group will remain open beyond the 8-week program, and future BREATHE™ group program participants will be invited to join our private community.

While Lori may not be as active in the Facebook group when the group program isn't running, she is currently hosting pop-up community co-working events to support and grow the Rose Model for Healthy Relationships community. You can find out more and sign up to join the list and receive notice about those events here.

  • Yes. The BREATHE™ practice structure and materials shared with you are copyrighted by the Rose Model for Healthy Relationships and are for your personal use only.

If you are interested in training to become a BREATHE™ somatic movement guide, please contact Lori to be added to the training program list as it begins in 2025.

  • While everyone's lived experiences, timelines, and journeys are different, here are some results and transformations we have seen in our BREATHE™ students and coaching clients:

    - Release of stuck emotions
    - Grief processing
    - Greater ability to set physical, verbal, and energetic boundaries
    - Gained an arsenal of daily support from and connection with something larger -- whether from nature, connection with ancestors, access to higher self, or a deepened sense of spiritual support
    - Developed self-attunement and compassion practices and embodied perspectives to help them move forward from mistakes rather than get snagged in shame, and take more brave action toward what they care about on a regular basis
    - Made dreams and creative endeavors real! "I paint when I can't sleep" has become showcasing and selling works of art in shows; people have taken career leaps and started new businesses; and others have felt more able to be the deeply connected parent they always wanted to be.
    - Experienced improved symptoms of depression and anxiety to be able to reconnect with life
    - Emerged from patterns of frozenness or people-pleasing to begin accessing more safety and naming and meeting their needs. This can result in less fatigue and a greater sense of alignment and fulfillment in life, work, and relationships.

  • We strive to balance maximizing accessibility to the Rose Model work with keeping our community offerings sustainable, and are unable to offer pre-set scholarship spots for this program. To honor our commitment to making the BREATHE™ experience accessible, we have two options if cost is the barrier to your participation:

    1. To discuss personalized payment plan options, please email Lori.

    2. Apply for our partial scholarship opportunities at this link.

The number of scholarship spots we can offer is based on the number of full-paying and supporter-level registrations. We'll do our best to accommodate as many scholarship applicants as possible, with the goal of ensuring anyone who would benefit from this program is able to participate.

If you have any other questions about accessibility or the application process, please reach out. We're here to support your journey in whatever way we can.

If you have questions that haven’t been answered, please reach out!
